A Teams standup bot for orgs that already left Slack, or never joined it
Business and Scale run the same three-question standup in Microsoft Teams. Local-time DMs, one channel thread, AI digest, and a blocker DM the next working day.
Many engineering groups still live in Slack. Much of the rest of the company does not. If your developers sit in Slack and your product, IT, and finance people sit in Microsoft Teams, a Slack-only standup bot creates a second class of people who paste answers into a channel they barely open.
Standup Smith puts Teams on Business (49 a month, 75 members, 10 standups) and Scale (99 a month, 200 members, 25 standups). The questions, the local-time DM, the threaded digest, the AI summary, and the blocker follow-up are the same as in Slack. You are not buying a lesser bot in Teams. Free and Team stay Slack only. If the whole engineering org is in Slack, stay on Team. Pay for Teams when people who must answer are actually in Teams.
How it shows up in Teams
The app is a Teams bot plus a personal app tab. At the standup hour, the bot sends an Adaptive Card in a 1:1 chat with each member. Three fields. They send the card. They can edit for 15 minutes.
The digest posts in the Teams channel you picked during setup, as one parent message with replies under it. We do not fill the channel with one message per person.
The AI digest is the first reply, in the same shape as Slack: blockers first, then risks, then who is waiting on whom. Weekly participation still arrives by email. There is no Teams tab full of charts on day one. The email is the report.
Mixed Slack and Teams in one workspace
Business and Scale are one workspace, not two products. You can run:
- One standup in a Slack channel for backend
- Standup B in a Teams channel for platform and IT
- Standup C in Slack for a contractor pod
A person should only be a member of standups in the chat they actually use. We do not send the same DM to one person in both Slack and Teams. If you add someone in both, the second add is rejected.
Blocker follow-up goes out in the same chat the original answer used. A blocker raised in Teams is not chased in Slack.
Holiday calendars for offices in more than one country
If one Teams tenant covers offices in the Gulf, the UK, and the US, one holiday list does not fit everyone. Business and Scale ship public-holiday calendars for four countries: US, UK, UAE, and KSA. The UAE federal government weekend is Saturday and Sunday, and private companies set their own. KSA rests Friday and Saturday. The bot uses the calendar attached to the member, not the one attached to the manager. A Dubai engineer is not pinged on UAE National Day because the manager sits in Austin.
Skip days still exist on top of holidays, for leave that is not a public holiday.
What Standup Smith is not
We are not a replacement for Microsoft Planner, Azure Boards, or a Microsoft 365 standup add-in with video. We do not read your Outlook calendar to guess who is busy. We do not post into a meeting chat. The bot talks in 1:1 cards and one Teams channel.

FAQ
Is Teams on the Team plan?
No. Team stays Slack only. Microsoft Teams starts at Business, 49 a month.
Do members need a special Teams license?
No license from us. Members need a Teams account that can use a custom app and receive bot chats. We do not sell Microsoft licenses. If your tenant blocks third-party apps, an IT admin has to allow Standup Smith before the invite is useful. Until a Teams Store listing is approved, the admin uploads the app from the invite or adds it to your org's app catalog.
When can we install it in the tenant?
No public date yet. Founding members get the invite first, by email, before anyone else.
